Courageous Advocacy
At Rainford CE Primary School, our children engage in a wide range of courageous advocacy opportunities, empowering them to become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond
Here are ways in which we teach our children courageous advocacy:
1. Seeds of Change
Each class at Rainford CE Primary School champions a chosen charity—known as their 'Seeds of Change'—which they support throughout the academic year. These charities are primarily local and have a meaningful impact on our wider school community. Awareness of each 'Seed of Change' is raised during our termly Inspiration days, where children take the lead in deepening their own and others’ understanding of their chosen cause. Beyond fundraising, pupils are encouraged to explore creative ways to raise awareness, with the ultimate goal of inspiring lasting support and meaningful change across our school community.

2. Taking Action with Rainford in Bloom
we are proud to play an active role in supporting Rainford in Bloom. As part of our commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship, pupils regularly take part in litter-picking and planting activities around the village. These hands-on experiences not only help to keep our local area clean and beautiful, but also teach our children the importance of caring for the environment and contributing positively to the place they call home. Through these efforts, we nurture a sense of pride, responsibility, and growth—both in our pupils and in our community.

3. Pupil Leadership Teams (PLTs)
In our school, every junior child from Year 3 to Year 6 is a member of a Pupil Leadership Group. These groups ensure that every child's voice is heard and empower children to make our school a better place. One example includes our
From Eco Warriors and Worship Leaders to Caring Communities and Equality Team, each team contributes to the growth and wellbeing of our school community. Through regular meetings, collaborative projects, and active involvement in decision-making, our pupils develop confidence, responsibility, and a deep sense of belonging. Their leadership helps our school flourish—reflecting our core values and our theme of 'Grow'. 4. Learning from Others
We know how important it is for children to learn from the teachings of the Bible and from other courageous advocates. We ensure that the books and literature available in our school tells the stories of many famous advocates of the world.

5. Supporting Causes
We pride ourselves in the work we do to support charities locally, nationally, and globally. At Rainford CE we have supported many charities over the years.
Harvest Food Collection Food collected for St Helens Food bank | Children in Need Raised £150 in 2025 | Poppy Appeal Raised £403.09 in September 2024 |
Christmas Toy Appeal 100s of toys for St Helens Community | Cake sale for Rainford Parish Council Raised £125 | Sponsorship for child at New Hope School in Kenya Raised £180 in May 2024 |

6. Our Trust Charity- New Hope
We encourage our children to have global thinking is support for the Trust Wide Charity 'New Hope for Africa.'
New Hope School and Orphanage in Kampala, Uganda, is a non profit making charity established in 2005 with the purpose of transforming the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in Uganda. The aim is to provide a safe and caring environment, where they will be nurtured, educated, helped to achieve their potential in life. We sponsor a young girl named Harjarah. We love receiving letters from Harjarah! Our fundraising pays for some of the things Harjarah needs.

7. Rainford Youth Council
A group of our pupils proudly represent Rainford CE Primary School as members of the Rainford Youth Council—the official voice of young people in our community. Working closely with parish councillors, they actively contribute to local decision-making and help bring about positive change. From organising car washes and cake sales to supporting community events and local groups at the Town Hall, these children demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. Their involvement empowers them to grow as confident advocates, making a real difference in Rainford.

8. Superkind
we use SuperKind to inspire and empower our pupils to take action and make a difference. Through this engaging platform, children learn about a wide range of causes and are encouraged to choose ones that matter to them personally. SuperKind helps our pupils understand the power of kindness, advocacy, and social responsibility, motivating them to become proactive changemakers.
